Divino Rivera

About

Budding out innocent and a newbie in the indiemusic seascape, Divino Rivera goes out sailing bringing in raw yet fresh stripped-down acoustic melodies blended with picturesque poetry. There’s sure indie heartiness in his songs coming off somewhere folk-ish ballad, melancholic, warm, introspective, and inspirational. His sincere and expressive vocals, escorted by soothing strings, could as if take you to a familiar place or so close to home. As the songwriter himself, he inks down imaginative words translating them to a compelling message on a passionate sound.

He started recording his songs on clumsy casette tapes during the good old days. Summer of '07, attempting to take his songwriting further, Divino explored and labored on digital recording from home with the help of his violinist friend. A duo of acoustic players was also formed out of their friendship and common bond of music calling themselves Shades of Shelter. Eight original songs birthed out from home-recording and had their demo project named “Living Room Sessions”. While reaping appreciation from few friends about their music, songs from this demo project like “Lay and Fall,” “Dasal”, and “Affections” gained airplays from a local radio station, 97.5 DWLY FM. The song “Lay and Fall” also got aired at K-lite FM.

He recently released an EP for the benefit ofTyphoon Haiyan rebuilding operations. This EP features his singles “Unos”, Strong and “Metaphors of a Restless Heart” and can be streamed at http://divinorivera.com.

Back in 2012, an EP was releaesed titled "Wishin' Christmas Be Alright" and an acoustic rendition of popular Christmas tunes also including one original song. Yet raw, its music captured cheer and quirk celebrating Christmas, family and Christ. It made it to Noisetrade blues top downloads. This project was a benefit for Baguio City/ La Trinidad Jail and the survivors of typhoon Pablo.

He currently serves at his home-church as worship leader and music director and also maintains a blog showcasing his writings at http://divinorivera.wordpress.com.
