Combine the hauntingly beautiful sounds and guitar-work of Michael Hedges with Tool’s dark polyrhythms, and you start to get an idea of where Ernesto Schnack is coming from. His music is a blend of bittersweet melodies, polyethnic grooves and metal-influenced intensity, all channeled through his acoustic guitar. After releasing his first solo album, Wood, and working with various rock and jazz bands in his native Panama, Ernesto decided to relocate to Berlin and start from scratch. This meant sitting alone with his guitar and exploring various influences, finding his own unique voice along the way. The result is A Work in Progress, released in early 2011.
