Saddle Creek is an independent record label based in Omaha, NE. It began in 1993 as Lumberjack Records releasing cassettes from a group of friends that were playing in Omaha-based bands at the time. Some of those bands are still around and most are not, but many of the same players remain on the roster (Bright Eyes, Cursive). Saddle Creek began documenting the local scene, much in the same way that other like-minded independent labels around the country began (Merge, Sub Pop, Dischord). Over the years, the roster has expanded to include bands from outside the region, including The Rural Alberta Advantage (Toronto), Land of Talk (Montreal), and PUJOL (Nashville) among others.
