As a songwriter, I am a product of the great American Midwest. My lyrics stem from the many years I’ve spent in Indiana. My personal history combined with the stories of the people I’ve come to know and love often bleed over into my music. The end goal is to write songs that are honest and a testament to the realities we all face as we strive to become better people.
On December 1st of 2012, I released my latest album, Boundary Waters. It is a pop-infused Americana album inspired by our ever-changing world. These are stories about the people we meet, the battles we fight, our ultimatums, and how they shape us for better and for worse.
I am influenced by a variety of music. Part of me wishes every day of my life felt like “Will It Go Round In Circles”, by Billy Preston. Everything about that song is joyful and I love it! Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and “Bad” make me feel like I could run through a brick wall. The more suspenseful side of me wishes “Glosoli” by Sigur Rós were the soundtrack to my every day life. Meanwhile, I’ve lived in the Midwest since birth and I’ve been surrounded by a healthy dose of American rock and folk over the years. No matter how I roll the dice, these influences will always be present.
