From Gideon's Daughter
The Wenatchee, WA band, Gideon’s Daughter (founded by married couple Brad and Lisa Petit) seem to thrive on abandoning their Americana style set list when a more natural ebb and flow presents a new direction on stage. Don’t be surprised if your hands and feet spontaneously start tapping to their gypsy-like fusion of folk, jazz, and hints of alternative bluegrass. The band members are fiercely loyal to their fans, and believe their experimental approach to music is what brings listeners back to their shows again and again. After a short touring period, GD decided not to schedule anymore gigs for the remainder of 2015 so they could focus on completing the new album. “Our musical direction has been changing and evolving in a way that has really inspired Lisa and I which has led us to write and arrange lots of new music that we’re very proud of”, said Brad when asked about the upcoming album. “This is a really exciting time for us. The new album has all sorts of new sounds like penny whistles, sitars, cello arrangements, and even some cowboy type guitar playing”, said Lisa when discussing their new material. GD also added a fiddle player, Mari Griffith (who by the way plays Nirvana on her violin) in May of 2015.
One of the newly written songs is titled “Bohannon”, inspired from the TV show, “Hell on Wheels” and will take the listener on a musical journey with a lyrical twist when they reveal their own interpretation of “The “Swede’s” true identity while sitar, guitar and banjo parts morph into a French Burlesque-type movement. So plan on catching a show this summer or fall and bring your dancing shoes. GD enjoys connecting with the audience just as much as each other while performing on stage.
