Holy Boy is the musical moniker of LA based, Norwegian born artist Helene Alexandra Jaeger. Her hallmark is gloomy, organ based alternative pop with spoken word elements, a sound that’s had her work compared to acts spanning from Lana Del Rey to Talk Talk, The Doors and Nick Cave.
While working on her full-length album due out in 2018, Holy Boy releases the single “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore” - a cold, haunting rendition of the classic 1966 hit song by The Walker Brothers.
With icy Solina synth strings and doom-laden, primal drums throughout, Holy Boy’s version of this famed track brings to mind the forbidding chill of Joy Division’s “Atmosphere” and New Order’s 1981 debut “Movement”. Monumental and sorrowful.
Holy Boy’s self titled debut EP was released to acclaim in June 2017, garnering support from Clash Magazine, BBC Radio 1, Earmilk and more. Holy Boy is showcasing at SXSW 2018 in Austin Texas, 14th and 15th March.
