A Little Out West
Sitting near a campfire on the prairie with the cattle gently calling their babies. A horse nickers, and another answers as she stamps her foot. The fire crackles and the steam rises from the coffee pot. Then we are sitting in a rocking chair, on the front porch of a cabin in the mountains, smoking a pipe, watching the squirrels play in the grass. The rolling green hills reflect the sunlight as a hawk rises into the dazzling blue sky. Then suddenly dark clouds roll in, and lightning flashes. Just as suddenly, we are standing by the seashore, watching the moon rise between the trees on a cloudless night. You can hear the seagulls and sandpipers call as the surf crashes on the shore. Then there’s the pain of a broken heart, the roar of a motorcycle, a smile and its all over, making you want to play the record again. Jay gives us a provocative ride through the countryside with this album, making us think, but also soothing the savage beast within. You can relax and enjoy the ride as his guitar gently takes you into the night.
