In Feb of 2014, Liza Anne began to make her place in the online world with the independent release of The Colder Months that would weeks later be noted by American Songwriter as ‘a rustic, haunting progressive folk ballad you need to hear at least one’.
Even as she has been likened to indie-folk artists such as Daughter and First Aid Kit, Liza doesn’t fall into a certain mold. Liza Anne showcases cutting, introspective lyrics sung with a maturity that seems well beyond her twenty years partnered with honed instrumentation that seems to carry you through each carefully crafted story.
Since the release of her freshman record, Anne has toured the east coast of the United States in a series of living room and intimate venue shows she booked herself. She continued this in Europe in the summer of 2014 after being hosted by Communion (founded by Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons) in London - making it as far as Berlin where she was the first artist to play in Soundcloud’s International Headquarters.
Following her return to the states, Anne was a part of curating an artist collective (hailing itself as ‘KINDRED’) and took a unique set of songs and stories all over the east coast in a two month tour of living rooms and small venues. Since the release of her album she has played with the like of Matthew Perryman Jones, Seawolf, Young Summer, FYFE (UK), Leighton Meester, and Dana Williams.
Liza Anne has plans to release her second project in the late spring of 2015 (date TBA) followed by a string of venue shows across the US and Europe to promote the new record.
