Manny crafted Idea of Love over a two-year period when his life felt directionless. He secretly channeled his musical talents into playing the piano and recording demos every day. Music during this time was an emotional outlet for his frustrations and the questions he had about his faulty relationships, life situation, and faith.
Manny wrote Idea of Love on his family's warm yet out-of-tune upright piano in his living room. He self-recorded it in the same room on a cluttered desk overlooking Winnipeg's Red River. His electronic tastes took over once he transferred his music to his laptop, where he layered modern electronic sounds with floating synths and 808s. His falsetto, melodies, and harmonies bring out the soulful, reflective feel of Idea of Love.
