I'm just not your typical pop star: I'm French, I'm gay, I'm not too young anymore, I even have a disability... And I'm definitely an outsider.
My name is NicoTwin. Why twin? Because I'm a gemini and have always had a strong sense of the duality in me. I was born in France but I quickly got bored so I moved to London and ended up staying 22 years. London is where I got my musical education. Over the years I have listened to and been influenced by all kinds of music, from easy listening to hardcore electronica. Hopefully you can hear this in my music. My style of music is pretty eclectic but the album can be summed up in two words: electronic pop.
Pop is just more fun! Pop brings smiles and gives joy, I don't want to be one of those super serious artists. And my music is electronic. First it's my favourite type of music and second, I can't play any instruments! I make all my music on computers.
So a year ago, I started making music on my laptop. I was just playing around with sounds and beats and before I knew it, I had written a few songs. So I thought, ok, let's see where this goes. A few months later I'd written and recorded a whole album. It's called "the struggle is real", it reflects me and my struggles, which I talk about in the album as well as architecture, London, fake friends, drag race and loads of other stuff.
I'm very proud of it but now I'm impatient to get back to the studio. And this time I really want to take my time and write even better songs. Then I want to do shows. Big gay shows with sets and lights and shirtless dancers.
But in the meantime, I want to carry on spreading the message. I want kids to listen to my music and know that gay is a-okay. And that we should have fun with life, always.
